Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMK Wali Songo, which has several students with special needs, particularly those with dyslexia and Down syndrome. This condition demands flexible and adaptive learning so that all students can obtain equal educational rights. This study aims to determine the impact of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum on students with special needs at SMK Wali Songo. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included teachers, students with special needs, and school officials. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has a positive impact on the development of students with special needs through differentiated learning, material simplification, the use of visual media, and more flexible learning assistance. Students become more active, confident, and able to participate in learning according to their abilities. The conclusion of this study shows that the Independent Curriculum supports the creation of inclusive learning at SMK Wali Songo, although there are still obstacles in facilities and teachers' understanding regarding inclusive education.
