Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has profoundly transformed the cognitive, behavioral, and social characteristics of Generation Z. While digitalization has expanded access to information and communication, it has also increased adolescents' vulnerability to moral degradation, identity confusion, excessive dependence on social media, and weakened interpersonal relationships. These challenges underscore the need for a counseling model that integrates psychological interventions with Islamic spiritual values to strengthen adolescents' character development. This study aimed to formulate a conceptual model of adolescent counseling based on the Qur'an and Hadith for strengthening the character of Generation Z. The study employed a qualitative library research design with a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data consisted of Qur'anic verses and authentic Hadith related to guidance, morality (akhlaq), tazkiyatun nafs (self-purification), and uswah hasanah (exemplary conduct). Secondary data were collected from scholarly books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and previous studies on Islamic counseling, character education, and Generation Z. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis integrated with the thematic (maudhu'i) interpretation of the Qur'an and supported by source triangulation. The findings indicate that the proposed counseling model is structured around three interrelated pillars: (1) tawhid as the foundation of moral identity and spiritual resilience, (2) tazkiyatun nafs as a strategy for self-regulation and emotional control, and (3) uswah hasanah as an approach to character formation through exemplary role modeling. These components are integrated with the psychological characteristics and digital lifestyle of Generation Z, resulting in a contextual, preventive, and adaptive counseling framework. The proposed model contributes to the theoretical development of Islamic counseling and provides practical guidance for counselors, educators, and parents in fostering resilient character and moral integrity among adolescents in the digital era.
