Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 era has encouraged the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) to become more adaptive to the characteristics of digital-native learners while preserving its essential role in character building. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of teaching variation skills in technology-based PAI learning, identify the challenges of their implementation, and formulate an appropriate development paradigm. A qualitative approach with a library research method was employed. Data were collected from scientific journal articles, books, and conference proceedings published between 2021 and 2026 and analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and source triangulation. The findings indicate that teaching variation skills have evolved in three dimensions: teaching style, learning media, and student interaction through the use of technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and interactive digital media. These innovations enhance student engagement, motivation, learning experiences, and the internalization of Islamic values. Nevertheless, their implementation should maintain a balance between technological innovation and humanistic-spiritual values through a blended variation approach to ensure that digital learning remains aligned with the objective of fostering akhlakul karimah.
