Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has significantly transformed students’ learning habits and character development. Many students spend more time consuming short-form video content than reading educational materials, resulting in decreased concentration, reduced literacy skills, and weakened moral awareness. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by Islamic Religious Education in shaping the character of Generation Alpha amidst the dominance of social media platforms. Using a literature review approach, this study examines various scholarly sources related to digital behavior, character education, and Islamic education. The findings reveal that excessive exposure to social media contributes to declining learning motivation, reduced social sensitivity, and weakening spiritual values. Islamic Religious Education plays a strategic role in addressing these challenges through character education, digital literacy, religious habituation, and role modeling.
