Abstract

Tylomelania patriarchalis is an endemic snail species found in Lake Matano, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Information on the biology of this snail is still lacking, so a study was conducted on the morphometrics, length-length relationships, length-weight relationships, and condition factors of this species. A total of 115 snails were collected, each with a shell length of 56.9–102.9 mm, a shell width of 18.0–34.6 mm, and a body weight of 8.38–47.65 g. The size distribution resembles a normal distribution (bell-shaped distribution). Statistical tests of the regression coefficient (b) yielded values ​​<1 for the length-length relationship and <3 for the length-weight relationship, indicating a hypoallometric or negative allometric growth type. The average condition factor value >1 indicates that the waters of Lake Matano are able to provide a good life for this snail. The data contained in this paper is the first information related to the biology of the snail T. patriarchalis, so it is hoped that further research on this snail and other Tylomelania snails will be conducted.
